Abstract

|
Skeletal anchorage system (SAS) has been used for absolute anchorage orthodontically and intermaxillary fixation (IMF)
method after gnathosurgery in oromaxillofacial surgery part. In our hospital, we perform IMF by SAS in cases of simple
fracture of mandible recently. Thirty one mandible simple fracture patients treated by IMF using SAS from July, 2005
to October, 2006 and the result was successful. The use of SAS for reduction of fractured segments during short period
may be very stable method reducing the load of operator and the pain of patient.
